ICU clinicians face an enormous information burden: during each patient round, up to six different digital systems need to be opened and mentally integrated while critical decisions must be made within seconds. Our project IC-DATIM tackles this challenge by developing a digital toolkit that consolidates data sources and surfaces the most relevant information depending on the clinical situation — reducing cognitive load and freeing up capacity for direct patient care. The project is a collaboration between University Hospital Zurich (ICUCockpit Research Group), the Zurich University of the Arts, and the Digital Health Design Living Lab. Want to see it in action? Check out our new promo video for an inside look at the project and its vision for the future of ICU interfaces.
